Meet the Artists

Janice Weiss brings familiar landmarks to life through paper collage, tearing, cutting and layering pages from used books and magazines. Her work invites viewers to recognize a beloved place and discover it again through color and texture.

A North Carolina artist and UNC-Chapel Hill graduate, Janice began her teaching career at Wake Forest. After retiring, she returned to her lifelong love of creating and founded Outlandishly Unique.

Susan Maley Rash creates happy, vibrant paintings filled with bold color. Painting since childhood, she continued to develop her art alongside a career in insurance, exploring watercolor and returning to oils in 2006.

Travel, flowers and familiar places inspire her work. A Salem College graduate, Susan has a special affection for its brick pathways and historic buildings, capturing the campus in paintings that celebrate its character and changing seasons.

Carol Morris combines vibrant fabrics, playful subjects and rich textures in her quilt designs. A former art teacher with a master’s degree in art education, she brings a lifelong love of sewing and creating to her work.

An avid hiker, Carol finds inspiration in the flowers, animals and landscapes of North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. In Bear in Bloom, carefully cut flowers are appliquéd onto a bear, bringing together three of her favorite subjects: color, flowers and wildlife.

Robyn Churn is an artist living and working in the Winston-Salem area. She moved to the Triad with her family in 2011 for what was meant to be a short stay, and happily continues to call the area home.

Since she began painting in 2013, Robyn has filled her work with deep, vibrant color. She loves placing color where it is unexpected and letting it blend and bleed, creating a whimsical, playful style. Her work can be found in restaurants, galleries and businesses throughout Winston-Salem.

Jay Dominick brings together art, woodworking, storytelling, and play in handcrafted wooden jigsaw puzzles. He designs every piece individually, including special “Whimsy” pieces inspired by the people, places, objects, and symbols in the artwork. Each puzzle is laser-cut and presented in a handmade wooden box.

Fascinated by place, history, and memory, Jay creates original collages from vintage college and university postcards. His Story Puzzles pair those images with researched booklets, inviting people to assemble, explore, and learn. Whether enjoyed alone or around a table with others, his puzzles offer small discoveries and stories to share.
