"Hello, World!"

Why name a jigsaw puzzle company "Hello World?"

"Hello World" is the iconic output for any programmer's first code.  For our founder, Jay Dominick, this simple phrase evokes the wonder, opportunity and potential inherent in creating technology products. The birth of any new thing - be it a program, a product or a person - is an opportunity to experience the world anew.  It is an opportunity full of awe, wonder and potential.  It is the birth of curiosity.

That curiosity is what led to the development of this line of wooden jigsaw puzzles.  How do you make a puzzle that is different from the millions of others in the market?  How do you create an experience that is lasting and that evokes more interest in the subject?  How, indeed, do you create something that is more than just a collection of carboard in a box?

Our puzzles are designed to inform through storytelling, entertain through thought-provoking imagery and to challenge through intricate puzzle crafting.  Each image in our artwork is itself a historical artifact.  We take the time to research the images and to put them in context through a narrative booklet that is included with the puzzle.  We want to tell the story of the puzzle in a way that leaves the puzzler with the urge to learn more about the subject.

Along with the imagery, these puzzles contain dozens of "Whimsies."  Whimsies are specially designed pieces that help add richness to the puzzle experience.  They all relate to the topic of the puzzle and we provide an explanation of the pieces and why we chose them for the puzzle.

We create these puzzles in wood to add depth to the physicality of the experience.  The wood has texture, weight and smell.  In a time of constant digital entertainment, it reminds us of the presence of the physical world around us.  The wood we use is specially crafted in the United States according to the exacting standards of the experimental aircraft industry.   Each puzzle is handmade and assembled in North Carolina.  They are limited to editions of 200 and are signed and numbered.

To complete the experience the puzzle, the booklet and artwork guide are packaged together in a handcrafted wooden box.  This box is engraved and features an inlay of our four-pointed logo.  Rather than languish in a closet, forgotten, we want it to live on your coffee table as a decorative conversation piece.

We hope that you will enjoy owning these puzzles as much as we have enjoyed creating them.
